Kae-Kae's New School
Monday, January 28, 2008
I don't know how or why, but somehow we have gone from Mikaela to Kaela to Chubba to Kae-Kae. La la got lost somewhere in there, but I wasn't all that fond of that one anyway.
Daycare woes. Well, we made a decision to go for it. The daycare we have been on a waiting list for since September had one spot for Mikaela and only one day for Cameron (which we only need 2-3 days for daycare anyhow). In order to not lose our spot, we decided to move Kaela over and Cameron for his one day. He will still spend 1-2 days at the "old" daycare.
We had our concerns, but everything went really well today for Kaela. I stayed with her for about a 1/2 hour, only because I'm picturing myself as her and my mom drops me off with some total strangers. Not cool. She has been there to visit, but still, that was a while ago. Believe me, I am not one of those moms who wants to hang around all morning. (that sounds bad, I really don't dump my kid and run either...well, not totally). I LOVE her new daycare teacher, Cindy. She is warm and soft spoken and everything one could as for in a toddler teacher! I left Mikaela in her capable arms and she had stopped crying by the time I finished some paperwork and hit the door. I got an information filled report about her day (plus!) and it was a good one.
We thought that Cameron might have a hard time because he is fairly protective of Kaela, except when it's on his turf. Kyle took him in to daycare and said he didn't say anything about it. Of course, I sat them both down last night and gave a detailed explanation of what was happening and they listened intently. Then they ate all of their vegetables and headed straight to bed. yep.

Email this postcure for daycare?
Monday, November 5, 2007
Anyone got one? I need it badly and will pay top dollar. If you are going "huh?" right now because you missed the title--I'm talking about a cure for daycare. Specifically, I'm speaking of the never ending, non-stop runny nose, cough, and fever. I can't believe how many days I've had to take off because of one of the kids being sick. AND I ONLY WORK PART TIME!
If I had written this a month ago, I would be asking for a cure for the good-bye cries and my breaking heart. Time seems to have healed that dilemma and the kids are much better about being dropped off and left to someone else to love them and cuddle them all day long. Obviously I haven't healed as quickly as they have.
And to top it all off, they are not even in a daycare that I want them to be in. I am comfortable with this place because Cameron went there for a few months before Kaela was born, but it's in our old neighborhood and is really out of the way--to the point that I am passing by the town I work in to drop the kids off at daycare and then back tracking. We are on a waiting list for one that is on the way to work for both Kyle and I and I have heard great things about them. There are a few licensed family day cares in the area (also with waiting lists) but they also provide transportation to and from the Universal Pre-K that's here. I am stuck trying to predict the future and where I want the kids to be and what will be easiest on us so that we aren't having to pick the kids up from 2 different places. In addition to trying to avoid switching daycares every year. If only my crystal ball was working, I'd be in great shape.

Email this postunder pressure
Tuesday, September 11, 2007
As usual, I have so much going on that I have no time to actually sit and think about any one thing. That sounds kind of sad, but that is just the reality of life right now. Last week I was thinking a lot about the Vice Principal who forgot to drop off her daughter at daycare and she unfortunately died. My heart goes out to that mother. It's not the first case we have heard of like this and at first I thought--how could you forget your child? But, since, I have thought about how I will start driving and not really think about where I am going. Or I will drive somewhere and arrive, but not really remember driving there. Starting daycare last week, there are days that Kyle takes the kids in and there are days that I do. It's not that far of a jump to think about forgetting it was my turn, and just driving to my usual destination. I would really be a basket case about this, except that I have two children going to daycare and they are never sleeping on the way there. There's no quiet in that van, so it would be difficult to forget them-I'm actually thankful for this. Another relief to me is that I always have too many things that I have to carry around and they always get dumped in the back seat. It does really make me think about the pressures that mothers are under in our society.
After only a day and a half of daycare, Cameron spiked a fever over the weekend. However, I can't just blame daycare because we were in to the dr's office for Mikaela's checkup last week so he could have picked it up there. Yesterday was a Cami and Mommy day at home and all of my time was taken up making calls related to the house. Again, sad, but I know that in a month I will be blogging about my wonderful house and all of my free time...I'm thinking positively here about the free time!
